This weeks artist has found a path to satisfy the technical execution of “craft” while firmly playing towards the expression and depth of “art”. This week Erik and Mike welcome Damon McLeese, Executive Director of Access Gallery. Access Gallery, an aspect of VSA (Very Special Arts) of Colorado, is a studio and gallery that brings art and creative expression to people with disabilities. VSA arts of Colorado is focused on creating a world where people with disabilities have the opportunity to learn through, participate in, and enjoy the arts. VSA arts is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1974 by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith. Nearly five million people with disabilities participate in VSA arts programs each year through affiliate programs in each state and over sixty countries worldwide.

This week Erik and Mike welcome back painter Rick Dula to complete the interview that was interrupted by technical difficulties a few weeks ago. Rick is one of 17 artists participating in the Embrace! Exhibition at The Denver Art Museum. Rick’s contribution to this giant installation project is titled “A Moment in Time: Here”; a photo realistic mural depicting the Hamilton Building’s skeletal structure. Rick also exhibits at William Havu Gallery.

In this two part interview, Erik and Mike welcome Judy Anderson; Artistic Director and Founder of PlatteForum and Katie Watson, artist in residence at PlatteForum. PlatteForum is an incredible organization whose mission is to bring hope and direction to under-served youth through collaboration with master artists from around the world. This experience transforms the lives of the youth, the artists and the community.

Also, in a special bonus episode which will air from 9 PM to 9:30 PM, we will be joined by Dana Cain and Phil Bender to talk about the upcoming Love Show opening this Friday at Core New Art Space. They will also be announcing the long awaited winner of the “Win a Dream Date with Phil Bender” contest!

Brian is an artist who’s work has shown all over the world and currently has a solo exhibition at Carla Wright Gallery in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe Drive. Brian works in two distinctive mediums, with a focus on both painting and print making.

Join us as Erik and Mike interview artist Jessica Weiss. Jessica is a New York based artist who is part of the “Take Five” exhibition at Plus Gallery, featuring influential NY artists Joanna Pousette-Dart, Joe Fyfe, John Newman, Jessica Weiss and Judith Linhares (curated by Naomi Cohn).
Plus Gallery will host an opening reception for the exhibition on January 21. The reception is free and open to the public from 6-8pm.
Jessica’s work is a mixed media exploration of color, pattern and the relationship between compositional balance and the dialogue of empty spaces.
