            <description><![CDATA[This week Erik and Mike interview artist Julie Strasheim. With an impressive education and resume of artists’ residencies, Julie has lived and studied painting all over the United States, Italy, France, Spain, Estonia, Costa Rica, Finland, and Georgia. Julie is a two-time winner of The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, has her portraits in several private collections and has exhibited in various group shows. Julie currently shows at Gallery Cuvée. Julie is presently working on Project Merasi which involves painting portraits of musicians from Rajasthan, India. The objective of these works is to honor both the musicians, who are denied basic human dignity as Untouchables in the caste system of India, as well as their musical legacy of 37 generations. The paintings are being donated to raise funds to assist the Merasi in building schools in Rajasthan.]]></description>

As an artist commenting on the violent content of industrial games and simulations as well as the industry (and culture) reinforcing depictions of gender, sexuality, and race, Josh finds it to be essential that he should deconstruct games as systems in order to uncover their ethical dimensions. He asks the question: what are the possibilities of these virtual worlds? Josh is currently exhibiting his work at Plus Gallery. and is part of a group collaboration producing one of the pieces for the Denver Art Museum’s Embrace exhibit. Past projects include being part of the IRUS Intercultural Collaborative Art Project between artists in Iran and the United States.]]></description>

The book showcased his photographs of everyday New Yorkers from all walks of life, each shown clothed and unclothed. Naked Los Angeles and Naked London followed in 1998 and 1999 and a fourth monograph, Mattress, was published in 2001. The work has been reviewed in numerous publications including The Washington Post, The London Times, Los Angeles Magazine, The Face, Art Papers and The New York Observer. Friedler has also been interviewed on the BBC and NPR. A documentary film titled Stripped followed Greg through the shooting of one of his most recent projects Naked Las Vegas and will be available soon.  Friedler’s other projects include photos from Havana, photos of vacant houses, photos of New Orleans, post-Katrina, and erotic paintings. He uses a large format camera to shoot most of his work.
